Why Become a Member
Membership in the Ameritano Horse Registry is what keeps the breed’s records, its standard, and its growing studbook in the hands of the people who own and breed these horses. Members support the work of documenting the cross — verifying parentage, maintaining the association, and building the case for the Ameritano among breeders and competitors who have not yet heard of it. In return, members receive an AHR membership number that identifies them in the association’s records and stays with them across every horse they register.
The Ameritano is a young breed, and that is the honest case for joining now. The studbook is still small enough that the horses in it and the people behind them shape what the breed becomes. The association’s stated goal is wider participation and a broader gene pool — a breed drawn from one program’s bloodlines has a ceiling, and every new breeder who joins raises it. Whether you own one Ameritano, stand a qualifying stallion, or are still deciding whether the cross is right for your program, membership is how you take part in that.
